MARBLE - A SEMI-FAIL

Ah, the work week is done. Hallelujah! And not only am I happy about that, I'm excited! My grandson, Treyson, who will be 14 on June 1st, has the lead in the school musical which I will be seeing this weekend. The kid is crazy talented and very obviously takes after his favorite grandma. I'm so proud of him I could bust. Last year I missed the musical because we were in Cabo. When I watched him as lead two years ago, I cried through most of it. Hopefully I can contain myself this year. I'm sure at some point he's going to get embarrassed by me. I've been very lucky so far; he's super sensitive and lovey and still lets me call him Munchkin in public as well as hug him, smooch him and generally hang all over him. Gawd, I adore this kid, my first grandson, my Munch. <3
 Break a leg, Treyson!

After I wear a light mani, especially one I didn't think looked very good on me, I tend to head back towards darker colors. I've been dying to do a marble but didn't really have the time to mess with one. Finally I was able to. What a disaster!! OMG. I only took the polish off of one nail just to try my marbling plan before completely removing my former mani. Oh, and that one nail went perfectly. The colors did exactly what I wanted; it was perfect.

So foolishly believing that the stars had aligned, I took the polish off my other nails, threw on a coat of white, and settled in for an hour or so of  marbling. I wish.

FOUR hours later, and it's now 1:00 a.m. Yup, again with being up way too late on a work night. What the hell is wrong with me?? Every night I tell myself to be in bed by 11:30 or 12:00, and every night I'm kicking myself as I saunter off into the bedroom at 12:30-1:30.

Of course, it's not my fault my mani wasn't cooperating. The first couple were fine. Then they started getting murky. New cup, new water. Then I bumped a couple. Then I just simply didn't like a couple. This was the worst time I've had with a marble in a very long time. But once you're 6 or 7 nails in, you're just not going to start all over and do something else.

So I finished it, ran around and took pics that didn't turn out and finally went to bed. I know it's probably not as horrible as I think it is; it's just that after spending SO much time on it, I really wanted perfect. I deserved perfect, dammit!!
I did a white base and planned on using white in the actual marble, too, but for some reason it just wasn't holding together like it normally does. I chose to use Nicole by OPI Alex by the Books, OPI Eurso Euro, Sinful Colors Mauve and Sinful Colors Smokin.

I rather like the color combo. Of course I would have liked the color combo even better if they had all turned out a little more like my middle finger. Dem's da' breaks sometimes. It is nice and shiny, tho! That's a plus!

Even though I find them to be extremely frustrating, I think marbles are still my favorite nail art. Different every time, so many possible color combinations; they're just fun to look at. If they weren't so much work, I'd do them so much more often. I promise the next one I show will be better.

Have a spectacular weekend! I think I'm going to. :)
