ALMOST TOSSED THIS ONE

This has not been the best week here. The weather is rainy and pretty chilly, and the weekend doesn't look any better. So far today I've done exactly nothing. Kev left at 1, and I promptly dozed off for an hour. It's just that kind of gloomy here.

My Hydrangeas are sitting outside still unplanted, and it's really bugging me that I can't get those darn things in the ground where they belong. Of course, even if the weather was good, I still wouldn't be able to plant them because Kev hasn't had a chance to dig up the area in front of the house where I want to put them. It's frustrating. I just want everything done. The weather really needs to be more of a team player. We are leaving on June 12th for a family vacay, and I certainly hope I can have it all finished before we leave.

This mani has been sitting in my drafts folder since mid-April. Every time I look at it, I don't like it and consider not even showing it.

But, as usual, I'll show the crap as well as the gems.

Pretty much the only thing I like about this one is the base yellow, Color Club Disco's Not Dead. This was done before I had my Mundo's, so I stamped with Colour Gossip Nature Girl, which when used as a normal polish, is a really great true green. As a stamping polish, it just looks faded out. Maybe I would have liked this better if the green was bolder. The design is from the Bundle Monster BM-XL03 plate, and I'm not super excited about that, either.

There really isn't anything "wrong" with this one. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

And now that it's almost 9 p.m., I should probs go scrounge around the kitchen to see what, if anything, I'm going to eat for supper. Right now it's looking like frozen pizza since I didn't think to take chicken out of the freezer until just now. 

And now I'm hungry for chicken, but I don't really want to make a full dinner this late at night. Dammit.

SHOULD'VE LEFT IT ALONE

Happy 23rd! My last bit of baking, the rolls, are sitting on the cupboard rising for the last time before throwing them into the oven. I can't wait. There are few things I like more than homemade buns fresh out of the oven, and they will be my late supper and probably also a late night snack.

The German sour cream twists came out fantastic. I think I've eaten 6 of those, and the peanut blossoms Tyler made are also delish. I've only eaten two of those. So far. The night is young. She also brought me Chex party mix, which I love but refuse to make. Some things are just better if someone else does it. My ex mother-in-law always made it, and luckily Tyler started doing it because I missed out on it for quite a few years now. Yummers.

Zero is ginormous. And adorable. And sweet. He's a stalker, though, and tends to follow me wherever I go. He also likes to suddenly join me in the recliner to wash my face and has no regard whatsoever for the laptop sitting on my legs. 

I have a Christmas plaid stretchy dog collar with bells around it that I put on him earlier. I finally took it off because he's so happy and bouncy that it was ringing way too much. Then I decided I'd pull out the reindeer ears that we never use and torment him with that. 

As you can see, he was thrilled.

Eventually he got them off and just laid across my legs trying to eat them.  I'm done picking on him now.

Last week late one night I decided to do a wreath stamp on my nails.

The light green is American Apparel Office, and I stamped the wreath using the Messy Mansion MM01 plate with Colour Gossip Nature Girl.  As an afterthought, I grabbed Square Hue Joulupukin Pajakyla and a dotting tool and filled in the bows on the wreath.

That part turned out to be a mistake. I just didn't like how they looked, but it wasn't bad enough that I felt like taking them off to start over.

I will say I had a couple of people compliment them while I was out and about, so I'm not considering it a fail. I'm just considering it to be one that I'm not really fond of. Now that I'm looking at it again, I think if I had stamped the wreaths with a super dark green it would have looked better. Hindsight and all that jazz.

I'm really hoping that later tonight I'll be able to do something with my nails. I still have on the one from yesterday's post, and I really don't want it to be my actual Christmas mani.

Now if I could just decide what I want to do, that would be nice.

IT'S A "KATHY" MANI

Today I finally completed the refinishing of all of the wood cabinets in the bathroom. Thank God. Now I just need to wait for Kev to be home so he can remove the sink so I can start refinishing the countertop. I'm so excited to do that part and kiss that blue goodbye.

I also spent a good part of my day bird watching. I'm now officially obsessed with cardinals, and they are apparently obsessed with hanging out on the railing of my deck. Which is fine with me because I get good pictures. 

When I was sneaking up to the door to snap pics one time today, the momma' was directly in front of me on the railing. I glance to the left, and there are two goldfinches perched on my shephard's hook. What the what?? I'm not sure why my deck area is bird heaven this summer, and I've never even been a fan of birds, but I am completely enjoying this. So before I show you my "Kathy Mani", here's a couple of my birds. :)

For whatever reason I guess my pics are all weirdly sized, probs because I crop them to get closer shots. Oh, well. Sorry.

Anywho, here's my mani, dubbed a "Kathy Mani" because this is totes the kind of thing she would do, and not so much the kind of thing I usually do. But I likey.

I did this using Colour Gossip Nature Girl, stamped the daisies with my LeaLac LLC-A plate and Konad white, and did the yellow centers with a dotting tool and Milani Yellow Whiz. 

I had never heard of Colour Gossip until I saw them on Instagram, and they sent me a sample. Nice, right? It came yesterday, I swatched it, and it is really nice polish. It goes on like a damn dream. I had looked at Colour Gossip a couple of weeks ago and love their colors.  Consider me a fan.

I'm going to assume you're tired of this post now, so I'll just let it be done.
