TURNED OUT COOL!

Hey, ladies....and gents, too, I suppose, are your heels as in craptastic shape as mine?

I'm not a feet fan, and certainly not of my own. After 55 years of avoiding their proper pampering, they are not exactly cute. My heels are rough as hell, and since  a)  I'm too cheap to go get a real pedi, and b) I don't like people playing with my feet, I've tried off and on to find something that I can do on my own to fix them.

Last year I discovered the Best Pedi Prep Ever from Julep, which is a roll-on solution that you let sit on your feet for a few minutes and then use a file to get rid of dry skin. It actually works quite well, and if I wasn't too lazy to keep up with it, it might have eliminated the issue.

But I am too lazy and don't really concern myself with my feet until summer hits and want to wear sandals. In the winter my feet are covered in my socks which are only off long enough to shower.

So I had seen an add for the Amope foot file thingie on tv and decided that would be the next thing I try. I ordered it from Target. OMG. It works crazy good!! I used it once a couple of weeks ago, and it really made a difference. I did it for the second time last night. My heels are smooth. They are so smooth my damn feet are literally sliding around inside my socks. This smoothness is completely foreign to me. I'm already looking forward to wearing sandals.

Enough for the commercial that I'm not getting paid for.

I did manage a mani last night, and now I have a dilemma.
Kleancolor Pastel Teal, Orly Liquid Vinyl, Milani Gold Dust alcohol hair spray turquoise marble
I have seen the different water marbles using hairspray or alcohol, some of which were for the look of turquoise.  Since I don't buy hairspray and didn't have a spray bottle lying around to put alcohol in, I didn't think I'd ever try this method.

Well, I found a little sample bottle of hairspray in the spare bathroom so I decided to try it.

I did two coats of Kleancolor Pastel Teal, and once that was dry I used saran wrap and dabbed on some spots of Milani Gold Dust. I did a coat of topcoat before I marbled. I put just one drop of Orly Liquid Vinyl in the water and after it spread, I sprayed it with hair spray.

Holy coolness!! I was surprised at how easily it worked. My only complaint with the method was that after spraying it, then the polish wouldn't spread for the next finger. I managed to mostly solve that problem by kind of swiping the water with a cotton ball between fingers.

I only have this on my left hand right now, so now I have a decision to make. The plan was to do a few different mani's this weekend, and now I can't decide if I really want to take this off. Part of me wants to do the other hand and leave it on until Monday night.  The other part of me wants to take it off and do a striping tape mani I've got halfway planned in my head. Another part of me wants to play with some new stamping plates I just got from Ali Express.

Decisions, decisions!! I honestly do not know what I'm going to do.

Geez, it's a good thing there aren't any more parts of me.

  1. I'm glad you did that, I've wanted to get that look for a while. I go to a rock, gem, and jewelry show with my wife a couple times a year. I've worn the obligatory black or blue colors. I got bored with that and have worn copper, gold, and silver. I even wore one of those magnetic colors that looked like tiger eye. But I want to make my nails look like turquoise or malachite. This technique is perfect for what I want to do.
